Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy)
Microneedling is a treatment that simply utilizes the body’s self-healing mechanism to trigger collagen remodeling that leads to smoother skin. The microneedle pen uses a disposable cartridge of 12 fine micro-needles to make controlled micro-channels (tiny holes) in the skin. The healing of these channels causes cells to produce additional collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, resulting in smoother, tighter skin. This process makes the skin appear more youthful and refreshed! Owing to the minimal downtime and discomfort involved, microneedling is a very popular skin rejuvenation treatment.
Microneedling can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, surgical or acne scarring. Typically, multiple monthly sessions followed by a maintenance regimen generate the best results. Microneedling can be done on the face, neck, chest, hands or used to spot treat scars.
Prior to your appointment, we will prescribe a numbing cream for you to apply 45 minutes before your treatment to minimize any discomfort. Multiple layers of the cream can be applied to increase the numbing affect. Post-procedure, you may have redness like a mild sunburn that usually subsides by the following day.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Microneedling
The PRP Microneedling procedure incorporates your own plasma into the treatment for a mega-boost of collagen production. PRP contains a high concentration of your own natural growth factors so collagen growth is exponentially increased.
Thirty minutes prior to your treatment time, our nursing staff will draw a vial of blood, centrifuge it, and place your platelets into medical syringes. During the treatment your esthetician will use the microneedle pen to open channels for your own platelets to enter your skin. The skin’s natural healing process plus the PRP growth factors combine to send collagen production soaring. The result is 8 times more collagen production than a microneedle treatment without PRP.
Microneedling F.A.Q.s
Prior to the procedure a numbing cream will be sent to your pharmacy of choice, which you will apply 1 hour- 45 min before your appointment. Multiple layers can be applied for maximum comfort. Your esthetician will thoroughly remove the numbing agent in the office. The procedure itself should be virtually painless. The microneedle process takes about 30-45 minutes, depending upon the areas being treated. Prepare to spend an hour with your esthetician including pre and post treatment care. The downtime following microneedling is short, as the area may be pink like a mild sunburn for 24-72 hours.
While you can see some results immediately following a microneedling treatment, the full results do not become visible until the micro-channels have healed. It takes time to re-build collagen and tighten elastin fibers. Most people can start to see results in four to six weeks. Typically, you will need monthly sessions followed by a maintenance regimen for best results. In additional your esthetician may recommend specific skin care to boost your results.
The number of treatments will vary depending on age, skin condition, and damage. Most patients will need a series of three to six session. After your package is complete your esthetician will recommend a maintenance regimen.
